Technical Configurations

This page is a reference point for building farms or contraptions that may require some specific mechanism in Minecraft. Subject to change. Do note that we use PAPER MC (not Fabric, not Vanilla).

Alternate Current

We use 'Alternate Current' redstone to reduce tick lag. See this page for more information.

Portal Mob Despawning

We use the Otherside plugin, which prevents mobs that walk through nether portals from despawning instantly. We have this configured at 60 seocnds.

Entities

  • less villager interactions with POIs (bells, beds, workstations)
    • tick-rates.behavior.villager.validatenearbypoi: 120
    • tick-rates.sensor.villager.secondarypoisensor: 240
  • simulation-distance: 8 – default
  • mob-spawn-range: 7
  • per-player-mob-spawns: true – mob caps are distributed equally per player
  • tick-inactive-villagers: false - inactive villagers are not ticked. To run an iron golem farm, you will need to be within 32 blocks of all villagers.

Duping

See the rules for more information.

Other Configs

  • Breaking bedrock is enabled
  • merge-radius for items is 2, for experience orbs is 2
  • Growth modifier is 25% for mushroom, and 50% for vines

Maintenance

We have daily off-site backups and daily server restarts every 24 hours. The world file is updated incrementally to a Google Drive directory, with the data securely encrypted.

Hardware

As of November 2024, we run on 3 dedicated Ryzen 5950x cores, 12GB RAM, and Ubuntu 22.04. The server is physically hosted in West US.
